Overview

Electromagnetic Flow Meter Manufacturer in India

Process Control Devices manufactures reliable electromagnetic flow meters for conductive liquids used in water treatment, wastewater, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, food processing, utilities, and industrial automation.

An electromagnetic flow meter, also known as a magnetic flow meter or mag flow meter, measures the volumetric flow rate of conductive liquids flowing through a closed pipe. Since the meter contains no moving parts or internal flow obstruction, it provides negligible pressure loss, low maintenance, and dependable long-term performance.

The meter is suitable for measuring water, wastewater, acids, chemicals, slurry, sewage, ETP water, process liquids, and other electrically conductive fluids. Its performance is largely unaffected by changes in fluid density, viscosity, pressure, and temperature within the specified operating limits.

Process Control Devices is an established electromagnetic flow meter manufacturer in Mumbai, India, offering integral and remote display models with 4–20 mA output, pulse output, RS485 Modbus communication, alarm relays, and multiple lining and electrode options.

Working Principle

An electromagnetic flow meter operates according to Faraday’s Law of Electromagnetic Induction.

When an electrically conductive liquid passes through the magnetic field generated inside the flow tube, a voltage is induced across the liquid. Electrodes mounted on opposite sides of the flow tube detect this voltage.

The induced voltage is directly proportional to the average velocity of the liquid. The electronic transmitter processes the voltage signal and calculates the volumetric flow rate using the known internal diameter of the flow tube.

The calculated flow is displayed as:

  • Instantaneous flow rate
  • Total accumulated flow
  • Forward or reverse flow
  • Process alarm status
  • Empty-pipe condition

Because the measurement does not depend on moving mechanical components, the electromagnetic flow meter provides low maintenance, minimal pressure loss, and reliable measurement of conductive liquids.

Why electromagnetic flow meter

An electromagnetic flow meter is one of the most dependable options for measuring conductive liquids in industrial pipelines.

No Moving Parts

The meter has no turbine, rotor, gear or mechanical component inside the flow path. This reduces wear, breakdowns and regular maintenance requirements.

Negligible Pressure Loss

The flow tube does not create a major obstruction inside the pipeline. Therefore, pressure loss across the electromagnetic flow meter is negligible.

Suitable for Corrosive and Abrasive Liquids

With the correct lining and electrode material, the meter can measure acids, alkalis, chemicals, sewage, slurry and industrial effluents.

Reliable Accuracy

Electromagnetic flow meters can provide accuracy from ±1% to ±0.5%, depending on the selected configuration and application.

Independent of Fluid Properties

Measurement is generally unaffected by changes in fluid density, viscosity, temperature and pressure, provided the fluid remains conductive and the meter operates within its specified limits.

Automation-Friendly Outputs

The meter can be integrated with PLC, SCADA, DCS and BMS systems using 4–20 mA, pulse output or RS485 Modbus communication.

Low Operating Cost

Minimal maintenance, negligible pressure loss and long service life make electromagnetic flow meters a cost-effective solution for industrial flow measurement.
